Responding to Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R. Sampanthan's claim that all of the disappeared were killed, Vavuniya District Tamil Families of the Disappeared Association Secretary Jenita slammed the Tamil politicians and called for Sri Lanka to be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"As a Tamil leader, what has Sampanthan done for the Tamil community," she asked.
"He took the votes of Tamils and entered parliament claiming to represent us. But is he representing us?"
She further noted that if Sampanthan is claiming to know that all the disappeared were killed, then he must present himself as a witness before the ICC and identify the perpetrators.
Responding to claims from Sri Lanka's foreign minister that compensation would be paid to the families of the disappeared, she stated that she had informed them and the commissioners "that we don't need compensation, we need justice". She further slammed the foreign minister's
She also said, Foreign Minister Ali Sabri has said that compensation should be given to the missing relatives, we already have informed them and the commissioners that we don’t need compensation, but we need justice. We strongly condemn their bribing act.
"For 13 years, we have fought for justice, but we have not received it. Therefore we call upon the international community to intereve".
