Sudanese police kill civilian protesters

Sudanese police have killed at least 50 civilians during protests over fuel prices last week, reported Amnesty International and the African Centre for Justice and Peace studies.

Both rights groups urged the Sudanese government to end the assault on civilian protesters.

Amnesty’s deputy chief for Africa, stressed,

“aiming at protesters’ chests and heads is a blatant violation of the right to life.”

Following a 24 hour internet black out, information of rights abuses by the Sudanese forces is filtering out of the country.

Doctors and youth activists at the Khartoum hospital told the associated press that at least 100 civilians have died since the protests commenced on Monday.
