More skeletal remains have been found in Muhamaalai on Thursday, a day after remains and clothing of female LTTE fighters were unearthed by a demining team, reported the Uthayan.
Bones, grenades and bullet casings were found in the town on the Jaffna peninsula, which used to be a major checkpoint to enter territory under Tamil control before 2009.
The remains found on Wednesday have been handed over to Palai police, following investigations conducted by the Kilinochchi district judiciary and a medical-legal expert.
The Uthayan reported that the remains were identified as those of female LTTE cadres from the Sothiya Regiment and the Malathi Regiment, using the soldiers' metal tags, with their regimental identification numbers.
