Iranian officials met with six other world powers in Geneva to reach an agreement, during the fourth day of negotiations, on Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Negotiators from the UK, US, Russia, China, France and Germany intending to stop Iran enriching uranium in return for the loosening of sanctions on the nation, reaching a signed agreement on Sunday morning.
In the closing stages of negotiation the deputy Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araqchi earlier said,
“We are insisting on our right to enrichment, which should be clearly recognised in the draft agreement.”
The final deal will result in the release of over $4bn frozen oil sales revenue accounts, and the relaxing of Iran’s gold, petrochemical and car and plane parts restrictions.
Iran in return is expected to limit and reduce the amount of uranium that is enriched within their nuclear facilities and provide greater nuclear transparency by allowing greater site access to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
