The International Criminal Court has urged the United States authorities to arrest war crimes indicted Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, as he is set to attend the United Nations summit in New York.
The court asked “the competent US authorities to arrest Omar al-Bashir and surrender him to the court, in the event he enters their country.”
Though the ICC has urged the US to take action against Bashir, the US is not party to the ICC’s Rome statute, which means it has no obligation to arrest to indicted leader.
