Former Bangladesh Minister indicted for crimes against humanity and genocide

A former Bangladeshi minister, Syed Mohammad Qaisar was indicted by a special three-member International Crimes Tribunal.

Qaiser, a former minister for Agriculture, was arrested for responsibility for alleged war crimes in March last year.

The former minister has been indicted on 16 war crimes, including those which amount to genocide, that were committed during the violent conflict in 1971. The prosecution has been set to commence in March, with Qaiser pleading not guilty.
