Hundreds of Buddhists marched through Burma’s biggest city, Yangon, to protest against the upcoming visit of an Islamic Political organisation.
Representatives of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), a group of 57 Islamic countries, are set to visit Burma later this week to speak to government leaders about the ethnic violence that has resulted in the death of over 240 people and displacement of 240000 people, of mostly the Muslim Rohingya community.
Marching through the city to disparage the discussion on the ethnic violence, the Buddhist monks held banners carrying slogans saying, “Stop interfering in our internal affairs” and “Get out”.
