British Tamil students hold workshop for university applications

British Tamil university students held a ‘Personal Statement Workshop Day’ last month, as part of a drive to help youth from across the country secure places at university.

The annual workshop, organised by the Tamil Student Initiative (TSI), saw dozens of Tamil students from universities in the United Kingdom, give individual advice to over 100 budding teenagers, looking to attend university next year.

Students from Cambridge University, the London School of Economics, University College London, Imperial College London and King’s College London were amongst many of the volunteers at the event, offering expert advice on subjects such as Medicine, Dentistry, Economics and Politics.

Throughout the day attendees received individual feedback on their prospective applications as well as advice regarding various courses on offer at different institutions.

“The workshop was a great success and we received some really positive feedback,” said one of the organisers to the Tamil Guardian. “We really hope initiatives like this can help more and more youth secure their places at top universities across the country.”
