30 Burmese muslims killed in Buddhist rampage

Conservative estimates suggest that over 30 Rohingya Muslims were killed in the latest episode of ethnic violence in the Burmese state of Rakhine, reports human rights group, Fortify Rights.

The latest spell of violence occurred after local Rakhine Buddhists aided by security forces are reportedly embarked on a revenge rampage, after a local policemen was reported missing.

The United Nations humanitarian Chief, Valerie Amos, called on the government to “immediately launch an impartial investigation” into the events.
