Sri Lanka's justice minister calls on Buddhist monks to lead campaign against unity government

Sri Lanka’s Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa called on Buddhist monks to lead a campaign against the current Sirisena unit government for political change, reports island.lk.

Speaking at a public meeting in Anuradhapura, the Justice Minister criticised Prime Minister Ranil WIckremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena, stating,

“The country is being reined because we have leaders who do not feel for the country. We tried a unity government with the UNP and SLFP coming together and that too has proved to be a failure. The Buddhist leaders and others should decide on an alternative political leadership.”

Claiming he was not able to voice the problems of the Sinhala Buddhist community the justice minister further added,

“When I speak about the problem faced by the Sinhala Buddhist majority, they call me a racist, but when minorities talk about their issues, they are patriots.”
