Murdered journalist Sugirtharajan remembered in Batticaloa

Murdered journalist Sugirtharajan was remembered in Batticaloa following the 11th anniversary of his death on January 24th.

Batticaloa native Surgirtharajan was shot dead in Trincomalee where he was working as a correspondent for Uthayan and Sudar Oil newspapers.

The journalist was a key figure in exposing the Sri Lankan government’s attempted coverup of the Trinco 5 murder.

Batticaloa journalists and media workers held a memorial outside Gandhi Park and called for justice for all murdered Tamil journalists.
