ITAK, PLOTE and TELO to contest LG polls as TNA

Following weeks of contentious discussions and fracturing of the Tamil National Alliance, Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK), PLOTE and TELO confirmed on Sunday they would be submitting nominations for the upcoming local government elections as the TNA.

The coalition will be contesting under the house symbol of the ITAK.

Earlier this week there were reports that TELO had decided to leave the TNA for the upcoming polls over disagreements about the allocation of seats. However, the issues were later resolved.

"The Tamil National Alliance Constituent party leaders Hon. Mavai Senathirajah (ITAK), Hon. Selvam Adikkalanathan (TELO) and Hon. Dharmalingham Siddarththan (PLOTE) met with members of Parliament and party representatives on 9th of December 2017 and held discussion regard to the forthcoming local government elections and resolved all issues pertaining to the said election," the TNA said in a statement released on Sunday, which was signed by Mavai Senathirajah of ITAK, Selvam Adaikkalanathan of TELO, and Dharmalingham Siddarththan of PLOTE.
