India signs bilateral defence deals with Russia

India signed 3 bi-lateral deals with Russia including the purchase of air defence missile systems, reports the Times of India.
The agreements were signed at the end of “fruitful and substantive talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on enhancing bilateral ties.  
The two nations announced agreements to boost bi-lateral ties in sectors including trade and investment, hydrocarbons, space and smart cities.
Asides the US$5 billion purchase of an air defence missile system, India also agreed to set up a join production facility for making Kamov helicopters.
“Russia’s clear stand on the need to combat terrorism mirrors our own. We deeply appreciate Russia’s understanding and support of our actions to fight cross-border terrorism, that threatens our entire region.”
