ICC renews calls for Libyan commander to be arrested for war crimes

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on Wednesday renewed her call for the Libyan commander, Mahmoud Mustafa Busayf Al-Werfalli to be arrested over allegations of war crimes.

The renewed call came after reports that Commander Werfalli was responsible for more killings.

Stating that he “stands accused of serious crimes. I therefore call again on Libya to take all possible steps to immediately arrest and surrender him to the ICC,” ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda said that she had received “reports alleging conversely that the suspect is at large and may have been involved in additional killings since the ICC warrant of arrest was issued.”

She said she was  “gravely concerned about these new allegations, and generally about further violent loss of life in Libya.”
