France calls on Israel to make gesture of peace to Palestine

France’s president Emmanuel Macron called on Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take tangible steps to show the Palestinian people that Israel was committed to peace.

Speaking after meeting Israel’s prime minister in Paris, Mr Macron said,

“I asked prime Minister Netanyahu to make some courageous gestures towards THE Palestinians to get out of the current impasse.”

Mr Macron added that he suggested the freeze of settlement construction, whistle reaffirming France’s commitment to a two-state solution as  the only viable option to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, reports Reuters.
