Army intruder caught by locals in Kurunagar

A Sri Lankan army soldier was apprehended by locals, after he entered a house in Jaffna's coastal suburb of Kurunagar on Wednesday night, reports Virakesari.

Locals, who had gathered in the area to celebrate the local temple's chariot festival, rushed to the scene after hearing a woman scream from within the house at around 11.45 pm.

The soldier was beaten and tied to a tree until the following morning, before being handed over to the police.

There are unconfirmed reports that the soldier has been handed over to the military police, the paper reports.

Earlier this month, a navy officer was caught whilst entering a woman's house in Vadamarachchi. See here for more.
